  This is the best carnitas tacos I've had in a really long time and I rate a lot of tacos. This might be one of the best I've ever had in my life. I can't speak for anything else on the menu, but the carnitas tacos was something I'd drive from OC to SAC for.

  I did it again!  I thought..."Yes Eric, you love La Favorita on Folsom.  In fact, the Green Chili Pork plate is one of my favorite meals in the city.  And yes, the last time I ate at the Elk Grove location it sucked.  But, that was years ago.  Maybe it's gotten better.  And you don't really want to drive to Florin Road right now.  So, give them a chance."  BAD ERIC!  
  
  They put the word salty in salty!  And the pork just wasn't of the same quality, nor do they give you the same amount you get at Florin.  The salsa options are fewer and not as good.  Is this really the same restaurant with the same recipes?!  Me think not!  
  
  Lesson of the day...DON'T BE LAZY!  DRIVE 5 MILES TO FLORIN ROAD!

  *** Vegetarian Review ***
  
  If you blink, you'll drive right by this place. It's located on a busy street, so take a look at my street view photos to get your bearings and bring your appetite. If you're not paying attention, you might end up in one of their other 4 locations spread throughout Sacramento.
  
  Would I Come Back Test? Yes, this restaurant is definitely on my radar whenever I'm in Elk Grove and don't feel like Leatherby's Ice Creamery.
  
  3 Tips for 1st Timers:
  1. Parking. They have a designated parking area, but it's not easy to spot as it blends with a neighboring business. Drive a little slower as you approach and keep your eyes peeled.
  2. Breakfast is served all day long
  3. Pinto beans are vegetarian and are tasty!
  
  Breakfast Burrito ($6.25 / Grade A+):
  Eggs, pinto beans, cheese, potatoes, guacamole, salsa, and lettuce. I've learned over decades of vegetarian eating that guac, salsa, and lettuce in my burritos although delicious also make the burrito get cold much, much quicker. So, ask for these on the side.
  
  Or do like I do, strip the vegetarian breakfast burrito down to its naked core. Eggs, pinto, cheese, and potatoes only. Along with chili rellenos, this is my go-to at all Mexican restaurants, but La Favorita Taqueria (Elk Grove location) is the best.
  
  Why? The potatoes are probably prepared on the grill top and get a crunchy outer coating which provides a welcomed textural component. The cheese is melted. You may think this is a no-brained, but if you've eaten enough vegetarian burritos, you've been on the receiving end of unmelted, cold shredded cheese. Finally, the overall balance of ingredients is perfect -- not one ingredient over powering the other as you devour this tightly wrapped burrito in minutes.
  
  Salsa Bar (Complimentary, Grade A):
  The usual suspects in the usual heat levels, mild to hot. The star of the bar was the mild green sauce. I enjoyed the red sauce, but found myself going back to the bar for more solo-cups filled with that salsa verde. It was savory and creamy and was a tasty compliment for each burrito bite.
  
  Chips (Complimentary, Grade C+):
  Nothing special to report here, but they kept under a heat lamp. These aren't housemade, but at least they are warm. Thicker than a bag of Tostitos, but the about the same taste. My wife and I didn't even finish the small amount of chips we put in those paper containers, but the burrito was prepared so perfectly, it doesn't affect my overall 5-star experience.
  
  Overall Restaurant Observations:
  1. Super friendly and fast service.
  2. Clean restaurant
  3. TVs
  4. Bathrooms have paper towels and were generally clean
  
  Bottom Line:
  Best vegetarian breakfast burrito I've ever eaten. La Favorita Taqueria has at least 4 locations that I'm aware of (West Sacramento, Sacramento, South Sacramento, and Elk Grove) so you know they are doing something great.

  This Mexican joint is not bad...close to my house and food is decent, Asada tacos and Supreme Nachos are my two favorites here.

  I cant think of many taquerias in elk grove, so when im craving a convenient yummy mexican meal, La favorita is always my first choice!
  
  We all know about their original location in South Sac, but this location isnt too far from that one. This one is located in old elk grove , right by the train tracks! They have been consistently serving up hot and fresh tacos, burritos, and nachos each time I come here so I know for a fact they are reliable. I love how even though they are quick with getting your food served to you, my food has never seemed cold or microwaved. Everything tastes so fresh, including their complimentary salsas at the chips and salsa bar.
  
  If youre looking for a reliable and delicious place for mexican food and happen to be in elk grove, come here!
